Year 9 & 10 teams achieve second place at the Science and Engineering Challenge!
Eight teams of students from Years 9 & 10 travelled to Deakin University on Wednesday 17th June to compete in the Science and Engineering Challenge. This event encourages students to consider a career in science or engineering, and to study the enabling sciences in senior high school. The Science and Engineering Challenge is a day-long competition designed to provide students with a positive experience of science and engineering. A maximum of 8 schools per day compete against each other at one venue over 2 days. Each school ‘team’ is divided into groups of 4 students who need to problem solve and build, test and iterate one or two engineering problems. This year we only missed out on going to the state final by a handful of points, even achieving a higher total score than the winners the day prior. Congratulations to the Confounding Communications team who achieved the best outcome on the day as well as the ElectraCITY team who also achieved a top score. The students were engaged with the problems all day and showed incredible resilience and perseverance throughout. We look forward to competing again next year and building on our success.
