CHES Enrichment Electives – Celebration Day

On Friday 19th June Elena Z and Alex N (Year 10) presented their semester elective work to more than a hundred visitors to the Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES).  Parents, teachers and their peers from other schools rotated through each elective area and asked questions of the students, who presented their work to each visitor.  Alex did the Lingo Lab elective and researched English language conventions and how texts can be annotated according to their audience and intent.  Elena completed a Maths investigation, looking at the mathematical formula for shooting a basketball from different heights and positions on the court.  They were both so confident and articulate as each visitor asked them about their projects.  They both commented how much they enjoyed the opportunity to meet other high ability students from schools all over Victoria and form new friendships.  They each received a certificate to acknowledge their hard work.

We encourage high ability students currently in Year 9 to think about doing an enrichment elective for 2027.  Enrolments happen at the end of term 3.
