Senior Girls Soccer - Second to none!
The Senior Girls Soccer Team proudly represented our school at the State Finals, held at the Darebin International Sports Centre on Tuesday 9th September. Having progressed through both local and regional rounds with confidence, the team entered the finals as one of the top eight schools from across Victoria.
The girls opened their campaign with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Greater Shepparton, followed by another 2–1 win against Castlemaine. In their final pool match, they delivered an emphatic 4–0 win over Ballarat, securing top spot in their group and a place in the State Final.
The final against Taylors Lakes was a thrilling contest. After a tight first half, our team dominated much of the second, but neither side could find the back of the net. Extra time saw us continue to press hard, yet the score remained 0–0. The championship came down to penalties, where despite a valiant effort, we were defeated 3–1.
Led with determination by captain McKayla Kassab, the squad of 16 players displayed resilience, teamwork, and exceptional sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Although narrowly missing the State title, the girls can be incredibly proud of their outstanding achievements and the spirit with which they represented our school.
