Year 8-10 Design Technology

Students across Years 8–10 have been showcasing their creativity, problem-solving skills and technical expertise through a range of exciting Design Technology projects this semester. From laser-cut lanterns to portable speakers and custom coffee tables, students have combined imagination with practical skills to bring their ideas to life.
Year 8 – Illuminating Ideas with Laser-Cut Lanterns
Students designed and created their own custom lanterns, developing skills in digital design, laser cutting, and electronics. The project involved designing unique patterns, laser cutting timber components, and soldering circuits to illuminate their finished lanterns.
Year 9 – Portable Speakers with Personality
Students combined creativity and technical skills to design and build functional Bluetooth speakers. Throughout the project, they explored electronic circuitry, assembled speaker components, and developed custom housing designs that reflected their individual style and design thinking.
Year 10 – Coffee Tables Crafted to Perfection
Over the course of a semester, students followed the complete design process to create a custom coffee table. From initial research and concept development to detailed planning and construction, students applied woodworking techniques and problem-solving skills to produce a finished piece of furniture.
