Artists of the Week

This term, the College has launched a new Artist of the Week initiative, celebrating the creativity, talent and dedication of our students across the Visual Arts. 

Each week, a student artist is featured on Compass, showcasing outstanding work and recognising the effort, growth and artistic achievements taking place in our classrooms. 

Below is a summary of the incredible student artists who have been highlighted over the past few weeks, along with comments from their teachers about what makes their work and approach to learning so special.

Week 8 – Seoyoung

It was wonderful to see how much effort Seoyoung dedicated to this project creating observational drawing of native animals to Australia. Her sharp attention to detail was on full display in the precise shading, which created an impressive three-dimensional quality. Seoyung established a wonderful composition, showing a mature understanding of how to create balance and depth on the page.

Week 9 – Seb

Seb has shown great dedication and perseverance while designing and building his own octagonal coffee table. He has worked through challenges with a positive attitude and has even spent extra time during recess to keep his project moving forward. His commitment to the design process and craftsmanship has been outstanding.

Ms Lui

Week 10 – Lyra, Lucy, An, Alisa, Emily and June

Congratulations to Lyra, Lucy, An, Alisa, Emily, and June on creating and performing an outstanding self-devised performance for their recent drama CAT. The piece was wonderfully written and included a variety of theatrical styles, showcasing the students’ imagination, collaboration and commitment. Their performance demonstrated an excellent use of expressive skills, including voice, movement, gesture and facial expression. The students should be very proud of their hard work, focus and creativity throughout the process and on stage. A big round of applause to these fine performing artists from 7C!
