Year 7 and 10

Year 7

Year 7 are growing into Epping Boys. They are now familiar with different classrooms, different teachers and bell times. Organisation remains an issue and will for the next few years. Thank you to teachers and parents for helping. Organisation is fundamental to success in high school and life beyond – and it doesn’t happen without effort.

Parents, please continue to mark your son’s school uniform. After every break we go around the playground and pick up items of clothing. Unfortunately, not all have a name and hard-earned money is wasted. Thank you for packing your son’s bag the night before and thank you for your support with Year of the Book.

The culture at Epping Boys has always been high expectations and a well-rounded education. We are a community high school and we encourage your son to play on the weekends with a local sporting club. Training, mid-week, also offers a nice break from the books. Sporting clubs offer the obvious physical benefits but also play a significant role in the development of interpersonal and social skills.

Year 10

The boys are growing up and there is a noticeable change in attitude this year. Year 10 is the beginning of Senior School. Many parents have noticed that schoolwork and assessment tasks are more formal. Consequences for non-compliance are more serious and the governing body – NESA – plays a more significant role. However, the boys are up to the challenge. They are, finally, becoming more organised and are actually studying prior to exams. Well done boys!

Many of the Year 10 boys were recently involved in the Pirates of Penzance, which was a great success. Congratulations on a wonderful production.

As always, I emphasise the important of balance. Plan your week with a schedule, and include the following: school, study, part time work, exercise, family and friends. It is a busy life at Epping Boys – get keen, get around it!
