Morrisby Assessment and Subject Selection

Year 10 students are entering a pivotal phase in their educational journey as they prepare to select subjects for Stage 6. The Morrisby Test serves as an invaluable resource to support this process. Drawing on a combination of psychometric assessments, career profiling, and personalised feedback, helping students discover their individual strengths, interests, and preferred work environments. This information forms the basis for informed and confident decisions, ensuring subject choices and future pathways align closely with each student’s goals.

Students and families benefit from a comprehensive overview of the different pathways available. For many, continuing into Stage 6 studies provides a solid foundation for university entry and tertiary education. At the same time, vocational education and training (VET) continues to be a popular and practical choice, with options like Construction, Hospitality, Real Estate and Information and Communications Technology among others. Alternatively, some students elect to transition from schooling to commence their apprenticeships and traineeships, gaining employment qualifications and building practical skills directly in the workplace. Morrisby helps clarify these varied routes, making it easier for each student to choose the path best suited to their skills and interests.

Over the coming weeks, our school will share further information with Year 10 families about the subject selection process. This will include details about the Subject Selection Information Evening, opportunities to meet with curriculum and careers staff, and guidance on applying for VET courses and apprenticeships. Families will receive tailored advice to support students as they transition into their next stage of education.
