Polding Touch Football Trials

Last Friday, Indi Moy and Caden Carson headed to Port Macquarie for the Polding Touch Football Trials as part of the Armidale diocesan team.  The girls played five games (two wins, two draws and a loss). Indi said she already knew most of the girls from other sports which made it a fun day. One of the things she wants to work on is her stepping to improve her game.

Caden was part of the boys team

State Hockey Trials

Angus Schmude recently headed to Newcastle as a Polding representative in hockey and he wrote this fantastic report about his experiences. Well done Angus!

My Experience Representing Polding at the NSWPSSA State Championships

I represented Polding at the NSWPSSA State Championships at Newcastle in May. We arrived in Newcastle for training, and I was excited to meet my new teammates. I was the only one from the Armidale Diocese. My first game was against Sydney west, and we won 3-0, I was a little nervous, but our team played well. My second game was against Hunter, and we won 3-0, I was not nervous at all for this game. The Third and final game for day 1 was against some friends of mine and the Northwest team, very hard game and we won 3-2. I scored 1 goal in this game.

Day 2 saw us play another 3 games. First game was against Sydney East and we won 1-0, it was a very competitive and I was lucky enough to score my second goal of the tournament we played well as a team and that got us the win.

The second game and we had our first loss, just down 1-0. They played very well, and we were unlucky not to score. Our final game for the day 2 was against Sydney North and we won 2-1. I scored in this game, which gave me 3 goals for the Pool games. It was an anxious wait to see if we got into the semis as we were relying on other games. We got the message at 6pm Tuesday we got in. I was so happy and excited about day 3.

The final day of the carnival we played against in the semi-final against MacKillop. When Polding play Mackillop we play for the catholic cup and so there was some extra incentive ti win this game. It was a close encounter. They won their pool and we came second in our pool. It went down to golden goal. The scores were even at full time 1-1. It then came down to 5 minutes each way and golden goal. We ended up winning the game in the 3rd minute, which then found us playing against North Coast in the final.

The Final was a great game. A lot of end-to-end plays. Unfortunately, we lost 2-0, but we played very well. I was disappointed with the loss, but still very happy of our achievements. I had a great time and made lots of new friends.

School Athletics Carnival

It was great to head back to O'Connor for this year's athletics carnival. It is always fantastic to see students putting the athletics skills they learn in class into practise on the track. One of the highlights had to be Alice Barley and Jess Newsome having a dead heat for first place in the 200m. There was some excellent house spirit on display and students were nice and loud cheering on their classmates. As always a massive thank you to our parents volunteers who helped with the barbeque, cake stall and events the day couldn't go ahead without you. Finally, congratulations to all of our competitors for their efforts on the day
