Classroom News - Year 5

Religion:

We have been enjoying our new unit, The Pentecost and the Holy Spirit and we have been all trying to be more Christ like in our interactions with others.

 

English: 

We are continuing with our unit of work, Images of War.  Students should be congratulated on their assessment task where they created a picture book style spread about an aspect of WW1.  Please have a look at some of the photos of the amazing work that the Year 5 students completed.

 

Students should also be congratulated on their public speaking that they completed class for the readiness for the St Joseph's Cup Competition.  The top six students will go onto the next round of the competition.

 

Science:

Year 5 are learning about different environments, especially Antarctica and the desert during Science lessons.  Students are looking at the different plants and animals that can live in different environments.  

 

Mathematics: 

Students are working hard on their new Mathematics unit, "Run like the wind' which is a unit about length, time and decimals.

 

Step Day (Stage 3 Transition Enrichment Program):

On Wednesday (09/06/21) Year 5 Students will have the wonderful opportunity to experience life in high school at O'Connor Catholic College.  We look forward to sharing the experience with you all in the next newsletter.

 

Wet Weather Dance Off 

Due to the wet weather at lunchtime last Thursday, students from Year 5 and Year 6 had a dance off to "Waka Waka".  Drum roll............the winner was Year 5 - well done Year 5.

Caden Carson

Last week Caden competed in the Polding Touch Football Team in Port Macquarie.  Well done Caden.

 

 

 

 

Angus Schmude

Last week Angus played in the Polding Hockey Team in Newcastle.  Angus and his team mates were lucky enough to come away with a silver medal.
