Classroom News - Year 4

Mrs Ross and Mr Norrie

Term 2, Week 8! How did we get here so fast?

We have begun a new unit for Religious Education about Pentecost. The unit focuses on exploring examples of people (apostles, saints, and heroes) who demonstrate courage in their lives.  We examine how they are models for us as they encourage us to live as witnesses who speak the truth.

We have been sharing "Nanberry, Black Brother White" as a whole class. The children have really been engaged in the story and have been gaining a great insight into life prior to colonisation. The children's History unit is based on this topic and the children will be writing their own historical recount from the perspective of either a soldier, a convict, or an Aboriginal.

Our Maths unit for the rest of this term focusses on Multiplication and Division. The children are encouraged to practice their Times Tables and are really enjoying the activities we are completing.

The children enjoyed a visit from illustrator, Sandy Flett. They enjoyed the stories of her career and how accessible she made illustrating characters.

Year 4 congratulate Lucy Bible on her participation in Cross Country at Polding level, on Tuesday. We are excited for her experience and proud of her success. Well done, Lucy! (The teachers are also very proud of the support and excitement Lucy's peers shared on her behalf!)

We have been encouraging the children to bring jumpers and jackets as the weather gets cold. Just a reminder to please ensure all belongings are labelled.

Thank you for your continued support. We believe our term is going well!
