Maths

In Maths, we have completed our Mass unit. Year 1 was able to compare the mass of objects by hefting as well as using a pan balance.

English

In English, we are learning about suffixes. Year 1 learn to identify the base word and the suffix that has been added to the base word. Please continue to practise Tricky words set 7 as well as nouns, verbs and adjectives. We also looked at poems and rhymes in preparation for St Joseph's Cup. It was wonderful to see Year 1 having a go at speaking in front of an audience as well as listening during the recitation.

Religion

In Religion, we are learning about special meals and celebration. Year 1 are learning that the Mass is a special celebration of thanksgiving to God. 

Science

In Science, we are looking at materials. Year 1 is discovering how materials change and what happens when they are combined.

Other News

Year 1 worked on 'Bear's Don't Read' by Emma Chichester Clark in English. They got to make their own bear.

Athletics Carnival

Year 1 had fun at the athletics carnival where they had a chance to showcase their running skills.
