Year 6

Warrnambool Camp Recount

MAN!!! I was tired, waking up early and having to hop on the bus getting ready for a full day of travelling to Warrnambool. All of the Year 6’s hopped on the bus and were all super excited.  If you travelled to Warrnambool with only a few stops here and there, it would generally only take 4 hours, but we took the whole day (7am to 6:30pm) because we stopped and toured around on the way. We were on a very amazing bus that was new and costed a fortune. The bus driver Ben, was very nice and helped explain everything as our tour guide. We also had a personal cook named Flo, he was very lovely and funny. When we got there we mainly toured around Warrnambool. We visited Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village where Odd Ball was filmed and we went around the museum and watched the night time Light and Sound Show. We also went to the 12 Apostles and viewed the island that the penguins where on for Odd Ball. Flagstaff Hill Wildlife Reserve was also another place we explored. We learnt about different wild plants, some you can eat and others that are very poisonous. Our tour guide let us use boomerangs and touch and hold fur coats, possum fur and old rocks that the indigenous used to kill prey and use them to create more weapons.

The 3 days went super-fast and in no time, we were getting ready to hop on the bus again to return back home. We were all exhausted after the whole ordeal. On the way back, we were a bit upset that it was all over but happy that we could go back home. On the way back, we stopped at an adventure park and had hotdogs in Geelong. Everyone enjoyed the time while it lasted.

Overall the experience was good, we learnt a lot of new things about the majorly dangerous place, Ship Wreck Cove. While we were there we learnt about the amount of ships that had crashed there and why. In the end all the year 6’s enjoyed it and now we can’t wait for year 7 camp 2020.

My experience at Warrnambool Camp was very memorable, there were so many extraordinary tours and adventures! The bus driver Ben was super funny and took us everywhere. Our cook Flo, was a great chef! His food was cooked with perfection and care. He was also super kind and generous.

Day 1: At 6.50am also everyone was awake kids were finishing packing their suitcases saying goodbye to their parents or eating a light breakfast before leaving at 7.00am. I was out the door feeling nervous and super excited! I got to school and noticed I forgot my pillow at home. My dad drove all the way back home and got my pillow. Everyone got on the bus and found their seats; all the boys were soooooo loud!! Our first stop was at the service station for a quick toilet break and a snack. Our next stop was when we got to the Otway’s Fly Treetop Walk. Our tour guide took us around to see some ginormous trees, very amazing and weird looking bushes and we learnt interesting facts about the plants in the area. Our last stop. Was at surfside Holiday park! Finally, we were here at 7:30pm.

Day 2: Everyone was awake super early the best part of the day/night was the ship wreak Colour Light and Sound Show. The chairs moved! The water turned a different colour. The story was super interesting and fun to watch Day 2 was an amazing day. Dinner was great, desert was AMAZING!!

Day 3: day 3 was a pretty great experience we explored a tower hill extinct Volcano, A Port fairy, an Historic Town, and a wind farm. My favourite part of the day was the extinct volcano it was a super cool day we got information about the history behind the extinct Volcano. And ate some pretty weird plants. We got back on the bus and went straight back to camp to pack up all our bags, eat some dinner, and some desert, and went a little crazy in our cabins!

Day 4: It was early Friday morning and we were all still sleeping in everyone was tired from the night before! Katie came around and woke everyone up we all got up very slowly! And started to finish up our bags and got ready for the last day, we hade breakfast at 9:00am and got all our suitcases on the bus. And found

our spots. The good thing was that everyone on the bus was super quiet! We all just watched Odd Ball. It was so nice and peace full.

Conclusion: In conclusion this was a amazing Adventure and experience to see in person!

My bodies heavy but my eyes are wide with anticipation. I look at my watch, its too early! 7 o’clock. ”What did I sign up for?”

We are now on our way to camp it is 7:30 in the morning and I am really tired, so I smashed down a drink (even though we weren’t aloud to - of course).”Aye Jacoub, I’m gonna go to sleep, wake me up when we get to the first place please.” “Sure”, replies Jacoub

“Ah!”

“What! Aye you good?” Jacoub looks at me like he’s seen a ghost.

“Yeah yeah, I just had a weird dream, like what the heck? I full on got electrocuted and stuff, and then, yeah.” I explained rubbing my eyes.

“Oh ok,you actually scared me.” He said.

“The right side of the bus can get up quietly,” Instructs our teacher Chris, “Now you can get off the bus.”

“What did she say,I blacked out for second.”

“She said get off the bus,I think.” My mate Michael whispers.

“Cheers Michael.” I start to walk, my legs shaking like I’m on top of a 100 story building, and I trip… But I’m not on the ground. Why? I open my eyes, I’m hovering over the ground! (to be continued…)

Our hearts were beating like a drums. Suddenly there was a loud noise - BROOOM! All we could see out of the window were gloomy faces waving to us with excitement and sadness. Everyone was cheering like their favourite football team just won the footy final. “Everyone ready?” Questioned the bus driver Ben. “YESSSSS!” everyone yelled. Then off drove the bus. The 4 hours that took to get there only felt like 5 minutes. We were here at Warrnambool to commence our year 6 camp.

First we went on a tree top walk it was really scary because the bridge was really wobbly. Then we went to go see the 12 Apostles - they were really cool rocks. Then we went to go see the big windmills. We went to go see the light show it was really scary because the chairs moved but it was really cool because the projector reflected onto the water and to made to water go up and colourful.

Finally we go to camp at 8:00PM bus diver Ben and guide Flo unbacked the bus then the teachers gave as our camp booklets and our cabin key. Flo was our cook so he started to cook our tea while we unpacked our luggage then our tea was ready we had pasta for dinner, it was delicious!

The next day was Wednesday. For breakfast we had a wrap then we went to the park. We were there for about 1 hour or more and the we went to our cabins for our lunch it was delicious. The we went to the light show it was at the museum it was really fun. Then we walked back to camp and then we went back to our cabin and we had 10 minutes to get ready for bed.

Camp was really cool! I like it when we went to
