Early Years Media Arts

Animation

In Year 3 our students have worked very hard to create our own stop motion animations!

First we had to learn how to create an original character!  We learnt how to produce ideas and put them together to create characters like a mad scientist shark or a rainbow dolphin unicorn!  We learnt how different shapes are used to portray characters in popular animations, for example ‘goodie’ and ‘baddie’ characters.

We viewed many different stop motions to learn techniques like how to show the time passing, adding credits and sound effects.

We also practised making paper cut characters and using blue tac at the joints to make the arms and legs move!  Students were also able to use modelling clay to create characters they were able to move.  This gave them the opportunity to experience both paper cut animation and Claymation.

This project also provided students with the opportunity to develop team work and leadership skills as well as time management and organisation.

Here are some photos of students working on their projects.
