Year 2

Sleepover

On Friday evening the Year 2's had a sleepover at school. Firstly our parents helped us set up our mattresses. Secondly our parents left and we played sport games and activities. We also went inside and ate supper and we ate muffins, milk and popcorn. Then we had a pyjama disco and there was like 6 songs playing. Then the girls and boys each watched a movie. The girls watched Over the Hedge. Then we fell asleep. In the morning we ate breakfast in the COLA. The sleepover was just practise for the Year 3 camp.

Westgarthtown Excursion Recounts

My SCORCHING excursion to Westgarthtown

Yesterday I went to Westgarthtown! YOU CAN TELL IT WAS HOT BY SCORCHING! I was like a boiled egg! Today it is 21-25 degrees but yesterday it was 39 degrees!!! Everytime we go on an excursion we go by BUS! Teresa, Leah, Maria, Duong, Rim and Tyson came! I got rashes on both of my arms and legs!

At the morning it was 32 degrees outside yesterday and it takes me 15 minutes to there BECAUSE I live in Bundoora!! Once I got there I looked up what the weather was AND I found out that there was a bushfire in Darwin! It said the SCORCHING, BOILING HOT, HOT, HOT weather was at the bushfires! One of the places even was 46 degrees! Can you believe it? In Australia? I was excited to go to Westgarthtown BUT it not in this weather! This SHOULD BE A SUMMER DAY!! It was about like 9.30, we went on the bus. Ryan and Thong didn't go.

Once we got to Thomastown we went past Mill Park, Bundoora and halfway past Thomastown until we got there. Here are some facts:

1. Westgarthtown is also known as German Town.

2. People didn't live for long because there was no hospital.

3. EVERYTHING  is handmade.

4. Westgarthtown has a few of the oldest houses in Melbourne!

5. 12 families came to live at Westgarthtown.

6. The children who died were 5 years or younger.

7. The family's grew wheat.

8. There are bluestone buildings like the church.

9. Westgarthtown is a German Town.

10. Pennies meant two dollars.

Well,  I would not like to be in one of those families!

Once we all got there it was hot but not scorching yet. That was a great big save! But I still felt like I was going to die!. So the bus driver is named Ivan I think. He got to stay in the refreshing bus the whole time!

The first that that 2B did was the HERITAGE walk, then it was SCORCHING!  It was like 7 hours and a half for the Heritage walk. My legs were falling off!!!! There were two more farmhouses. But I forgot who owned it. We went past a ladies house and she had a doggy. After that we went to a cemetery. There were a few children and one was named 'Something Parks. Then we went to the church. After, we went in the house. We couldn't go upstairs. It was awesome! Then we went back.

Our Excursion to Westgarthtown

Westgarthtown was super fun, we all LOVED IT!

On that day it was really hot, it was 39 degrees although it was really, really windy. It was that windy it was blowing me up into the sky! We had to wear hats and sunscreen.

First we got on the bus with all of the Year 2's, Maria, Teresa, Leah, Duong and Rim. I was getting so bored on the bus I decided to play hangman on Jana's book. I was sitting next to Jana and opposite me was Millie and Neha. We also played I spy then we finally arrived. Then we all got off and went to the tour guide John. He told us that Thomastown Westgarthtown was the first place where the first houses were built.

After 2A went to the cemetery, it was so interesting but I didn't really like cemetery's. The wooden grave was the oldest one there and another one that said someone died at the age of one year old. We also saw the grave of the owners of Ziebell's Farm House. Finally we had our brain food but in the cemetery there were no bins so we had to put our rubbish in our bags. Then we went to the church. We read the big sign about the church. Mia read it for us. We were about to go inside the church but it was locked but we found a shady spot, sat down, ate and talked about it.

Chloe said the church was made out of stone. While we were talking  we ate some of our snack. After it started to get a bit windy so we decided to go to Ziebell's Farm House. When we got there, 2C and 2B were eating as well so 2A went to the toilets. Finally we got to go to Ziebell's Farm House.

First they showed us the jobs that the girls had to do. We did a lot of jobs back in those days, and also the boys jobs. Then they showed us the bedroom, kitchen, baby room, dining room and the bathroom. The bathroom was interesting because it's bad luck if you're the youngest you're last to have a bath everyone uses the same bath water.

The Ziebell family were German and in the olden days this state wasn't Victoria.  It was NSW. In the rose garden, a lot of the plants were over 100 years old and because there was no Northern Hospital, their medicine was herbs. Then we went into the bedroom and John told us some information. After we ate again and finally it was time for our last activity. We went on a walk around the street but it was getting so hot we stopped half way through and went on the bus. On the walk we saw poison cherries and on the bus we waited for 2B to come and went back and chilled!!! I LOVED IT!!
