Student Spotlight

Ashlyn Seymour – Year 11

Ashlyn is completing the VCE Vocational Major and completing Certificate III in Events at Holmesglen Institute. This is Ashlyn’s second year of her VET studies and she will complete her Cert III qualification at the end of this year.

Ashlyn is currently completing her Structured Workplace Learning placement at 'Feel Good Events' in Ferntree Gully. Her time has seen her attend Melbourne Zoo to set up for a wedding, Albert Park Golf Club for a wedding and Canva for a corporate event.

As you can see by the photo, Ashlyn has many props to work with when setting up for events!  Ashlyn's goal is to work with sporting clubs within the Events Management Sector.

Ambrose Strentz – Year 11

Ambrose is completing the VCE Vocational Major and completing his first year in Cert II Electrotechnology.

I'm currently undertaking my Structured Workplace Learning at the Yarra Trams New Preston Depot.Attending SWL has given me insight and the opportunity to get hands-on experience and learn what it's like to work in the transport industry as an engineer.  Some of the things I've been able to do include; assisting with inspecting and diagnosing issues with trams, getting hands-on with industry-leading software like SolidWorks Electrical and learning about some of the things that go on behind the scenes in public transport.”- Ambrose
