International Women’s Day 2023 Embrace Equity

Staff and students celebrated all the people in their lives that do or have strived for fairness in recognition of IWD 2023 theme “Embrace Equity”.  Year 9 Students had the privilege of hearing from Ultra Marathon Runner, Lucy Bartholomew; on how she focusses on the small things she can control to overcome gender and ageist stereotypes in her sport.  One story she illustrated was how she was in a race, running in the dark, deciding if to give up on the race due to exhaustion.  But decided to just keep stepping into the little circle of light from her head torch in front of her.  Not only did she run through the night she was able to complete her first long run in Europe to gain sponsorship.
