House Captains

Indeed, Box Hill Highschool’s 2023 Swimming Carnival saw an absolutely fantastic number of students getting involved in competitive events, dressing up and donning their house colours!  Welcomed with rather agreeable weather, engagement on the day came in multiple forms.  Many students warmed up and swam the competitive races and/or participated in the more relaxed Novelty Events and Fashion Parade. Quite notably however, Prefects noted a high volume of other students cheering on and supporting their peers who chose to swim competitively which was wonderful to see!

Carrying on from last year, House Prefects also ran a face-paint and hairspray stall where students were able to show off their House Spirit.  Both Junior and Senior students ensured they profited from the opportunity, with students encouraging one another to proudly show off their house colours; coloured hearts were undoubtedly the most popular choice of face-paint!

Overall, the House Prefects would like to extend an enormous thank you to all teachers and the creative team for making our 2023 Swimming Carnival one to remember.  Well done to all Swimming Carnival participants and congratulations to Irwin House for their victory!

Looking forward to the future, our vision for this year as House Prefects includes a plan to implement lunchtime sport competitions every week.  These competitions will allow students to share their passion for playing sports as well as maintain healthy levels of physical activity – not to mention the opportunity they will have to make new friends and connections!  These competitions will first commence in Term 2.  Sports for Term 2 will include Basketball, Volleyball and Netball – students must register with a link provided to them on Teams and house points will be awarded on participation!

Moreover, House Prefects are currently developing a model to implement more House Competition in the Arts and in the Library, we look forward to announcing our models once details and logistics have been confirmed.

Keep on getting involved Box Hill!
