First VEX Robotics Competition

On Thursday 27 August 2026, our Year 10 VEX Robotics students competed with their robot for the first time. They were exceptional in their work ethic, presentation and sportsmanship. This event had 25 teams, most of whom have been competing for a number of years and have been to other competitions this year to refine their robots.

VEX Competitions appoint a number for each school, as seen on the robot numberplate. Our school number is 32324 which is based on Colossians 3:23-24, which we encourage every one of our team members to live up to.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24

While the team stepped into this competition with a simple robot and no idea of what this competition would really be like, they embraced every challenge. 

The VEX competition was an exhilarating experience. As soon as we got there, we acquainted ourselves with fellow VEX competitors and started to discuss about how we made our robots. The highlight of the day was when our robot was successful in some of its competitions, especially in the one in which it earned points autonomously. There were all sorts of different robots there, many of which seemed highly thought out. We really didn’t expect to finish in the top ten but were delightfully surprised when we found out. Watching our team work together so seamlessly was another highlight and we all learnt so much from each other. I look forward to our next competition!
