Puffing Billy

On Monday 24 August, Year 1 and 2 embarked on an exciting journey to Belgrave to travel on the beloved steam train, Puffing Billy! We were blessed with the most beautiful sunshine, which gave us plenty of opportunities to complete our scavenger hunt along the way. We initially thought our booklets were joking when we spotted ‘Superman’ on the list, but we couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw him standing in someone’s backyard along the train track!

In Integrated Studies, we have been exploring ‘push’ and ‘pull’ forces and how they can be used to create fun toys to play with and beautiful artwork to enjoy. It was amazing to see these forces in action on Puffing Billy! We marvelled at how the heat from the fiery coals creates steam, which pushes the pistons and ultimately pulls the carriages along the track with us inside. What an incredible day out with our friends, teachers and wonderful parent helpers! We are so grateful for the opportunity to learn, explore and make special memories together.
