THANKS FOR THE NEW GRAPHIC CALCULATORS

As part of this year’s Friends of Footscray City College Small Grants Program, our library was given funding to purchase ten new CAS Graphic Calculators and a docking station to charge them.

Thanks to the wonderful fundraising efforts of the Friends of FCC we are very grateful to be able to offer these important resources to our students.

COME HERE AND SAY IT - TO CECIL

This term we have had two performances of Come here and say it.  This is an opportunity for our students to get up in front of a large audience and deliver their poems.  As of next term, Come here and say it will incorporate all forms of spoken word, including rap and stand up comedy. These performances have also been the launching place for our student newsletter, Cecil.  The student newsletter team meets in the library classroom during Tuesday lunchtimes.  Lainey Drake and Maddie Drury have done an excellent job as editors but because they are both at the pointy end of their Year 12 studies, they are looking for replacement editors.  Copies of Cecil are available at the library desk.

MELBOURNE WRITERS FESTIVAL EXCURSION

Back in August, a group of our students were lucky to attend a whole day of talks at the Melbourne Writers Festival.  Below is a photo of three of our students, Felix, Eva and April, getting to meet one of their idols, Nevo Zisin, who appeared on one of the panels talking about their memoir, Finding Nevo.  We also heard from John Marsden, Melissa Keil, Claire Christian, Osama Sami, Randa Abdel-Fattah and Giselle Au-Nhien Nguyen.
