MACBETH EXCURSION

"By the pricking of my thumbs, Something wicked this way comes." (Act IV, Scene I).

Something wicked did come our way, a contemporary interpretation of an old classic, William Shakespeare's Macbeth. On Wednesday the 23rd of August, Year 10 students attended the theatre production of Macbeth, presented by the Bell Theatre Company at the Melbourne Arts Centre.

We went to see the production to experience a live production as opposed to just reading it straight out of the book. This is very helpful to those who are visual learners, it is fair to say that the play provided the students with a good understanding, in one way or another. Being a contemporary interpretation, the play incorporated elements of modern lifestyle and theatres techniques. Malcolm’s audience interaction serves as a break for the actors and an opportunity for the audience to catch up to the story. The play gave the witches a modern makeover, while different to the book, still bring the same narratives to the story. The lighting and music were also one of the many highlights of the play, as it was superbly done, well timed, aesthetically pleasing, and emotionally moving.

Thank you to the following teachers: Brendan, Kalinda, Han, Timmi, Malcolm, Pippa and Nicole for organising and attending the play with us.
