SPORT NEWS
A busy number of weeks coming up in interschool sport as our basketball, hockey and table tennis teams do battle in regional sport competitions. Good luck to all teams involved as well as our athletes who will compete at Keilor Park Athletics track in interschool athletics.
A fantastic effort by Tom (Year 8) and Jackson Glover (Year 10) recently at the State Cross-Country Championships in Bundoora. Both boys finished in the top 10 (Jackson 5th & Tom 6th) in the state which is absolutely outstanding. The intermediate girls’ footy team also won their regional competition and competed at the WMR finals against some excellent competition.
Once again, I would also like to acknowledge the great assistance I get from a number of our teaching staff who regularly put their hands up to train and coach our students outside of their regular teaching hours. Thanks also to the parents and carers who come along to support their children and offer to help in many ways.
The re-furbishment of our school weights room is well under way with much of the work being done by some of our Year 12 students lead by Tahl Persall in their spare time. The new painting and carpet have already been done and it shouldn’t be too long before it is all ready to go. Thanks again to the Friends of Footscray parents group who generously awarded $1500 towards the purchase of new fitness equipment.
