WESTGARTHTOWN, As part of this semester’s Inquiry Unit – ‘Back to the Future’, the Year 2s went on an exciting excursion to the past when we visited the history of the local area we live in at Westgarthtown., LIFE EDUCATION , We were lucky this year to have our visit from Life Education. Our Year 2 unit was called ‘Safety Rules’.

This term selected students from years 3, 4, 5 and 6 participated in the Bridge Inn South District Cross Country. Depending on their age group, students ran either 2km or 3km around a track at Bundoora Park.

It’s been another tough but rewarding term for us all, teachers and students alike. Along with the usual challenges of education we had to contend with another period of lockdown and remote learning. Despite this setback, so many of our English students on the Secondary Campus rose to the challenge and produced some terrific work. Year 10 Legal Studies
In Legal Studies, the Year 10 students completed projects on the Victorian Court Hierarchy. They outlined the roles of each court and the reasons for them. The students worked so hard to complete thorough and comprehensive posters which are now on display in the Humanities Pod. Well done!
Maths Pathway Reflection
In Years 7 – 10, students at The Lakes engage in a program called Maths Pathways. This program is set up to allow students to focus on learning the content that they are ready to learn. Each student works on an individualised program and can spend time extending themselves and filling in previous learning gaps. This program is in place to ensure that all students can achieve success in mastering content that is aimed at their specific level. While there have naturally been mixed attitudes towards this program, as all students enjoy learning in different contexts to one another, we wanted to showcase two students who have academically excelled while using this program. , Abbey Z:, Eliza R:
