ANZAC Day Activities

At the beginning of Term 2, the school celebrated ANZAC day. To highlight this important day, the Prep students participated in a range of ANZAC day lessons and activities.

We began the week by learning about what ANZAC day was, we discuss what the letters stood for and read some stories together, such as ANZAC Ted.

On the Tuesday we were lucky enough to have a visit from the Gumboots kindergarten group who came to learn about ANZAC day with us. Together with the kinder children, we made poppies, an ANZAC day sign, drew pictures of ANZAC Ted from our book and completed many other ANZAC activities.

On the Thursday we learnt about ANZAC biscuits and why they were made during the war. We learnt about why people chose those special ingredients for the biscuits and wrote a procedure for how to make ANZAC biscuits.

Then we went into the COLA and followed the procedure to make some ANZAC biscuits together. The students enjoyed getting to take them home and eat them.
