Array City & Life Ed.

ARRAY CITY

As part of our mathematics unit this term, students in Year 3 have been learning about multiplication. We learned a variety of strategies including repeated addition and using arrays to make ‘groups of.’ Students were tasked with designing their own cities. They cut out their skyscrapers and then arranged their windows as arrays. Finally, students wrote the multiplication number sentence that they demonstrated with their window arrays.

LIFE EDUCATION

We were lucky this year to have our visit from Life Education. Our Year 3 unit was called ‘All Systems Go’.  In our lesson, we learned about arteries and veins. We found out how they work and how they send things around our bodies and remove waste items. We learned about the different functions of different organs. Then we learned about how to get the most out of our bodies by fueling them with the best foods. Our teacher, Shy, taught us about the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating and we created a meal plan including all the necessary foods to keep us strong and healthy. At the end of our lesson, we got to see and meet Harold the Giraffe!
