School Captain Report

Term 2 was a very enjoyable, and unique term. We got to take part in many different activities even though we went into an unexpected lockdown for two weeks. In terms of assembly we got to host face to face assembly’s with parents in attendance, which is a step in the right direction. We also had the lucky opportunity to go to camp, and we had many fun activities open to us such as, the flying fox, team work initiatives, bush walking and many others.

In the classroom this term Year 6 students took part in an amazing inquiry activity where we got to construct our own town. It was called 5 Mile Creek. We learnt about property value, wages, occupations and what a town needs to thrive.

During lockdown our studies were never interrupted as we took part in daily zooms and followed our online learning plan. We were more prepared and knew what to expect. There were lots of pros and cons in lock down, but we’re glad to be back at school.

This term in inter school sports students from Year 5 and 6 were able to take part in tennis, volleyball, and footy. This has been an amazing experience as we got to interact with various schools. The results were mixed but all of our skills have improved.

In SWPBS this term, we focused on the value of Teamwork. As a reward for showing our school values, students received dojo points, which they could exchange for several prizes. We learnt about and put into practice many different aspects of Teamwork. We look forward to learning more about our value of Leadership in Term 3.

This Term the school grounds are fairly clean, but there is always room for improvement. Please remember to constantly put your rubbish in the bin. We want to remind everyone to please remember to show their school values at all times and enjoy being at The Lakes. Overall, Term 2 was a very special, and unforgettable Term.

We wish everyone a safe and happy school holiday break.
