Message from Principal Sarah

From Sarah Nightingale, Principal

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope all families had a restful and enjoyable break and that our students are returning refreshed, ready for another term of learning. Term 2 is always a busy and exciting time in the school calendar, with many opportunities for students to challenge themselves, build friendships, and engage deeply in their learning.

ANZAC Day Assembly

Last week, our school community came together for our ANZAC Day assembly, held on Friday 24th April. I would like to thank Brigadier Bob Slater for volunteering his time and sharing his experiences and knowledge of ANZAC day with our school community. I would also like to commend all students for the respect they showed throughout the ceremony.

Pick up Procedures

We would like to send a friendly reminder to all families about our pick-up procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every student.

Students are only permitted to be collected by their parent/carer or by an adult who has been authorised by the family. Families must not arrange to collect other students without prior permission from the child’s parent/carer.

If there are any changes to your child’s usual pick-up arrangements, it is important that you inform the classroom teacher or school office in advance. Clear communication helps us ensure that all students are dismissed safely and efficiently at the end of each day.

Upcoming Events

We have a number of exciting events coming up in the next few weeks. Our Year 5/6 students will participate in their Sports Day on Friday 1st May, which is always a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit. Families are invited to spectate the event (please refer to the Compass post for more information).

We also look forward to our Year 2 Camp Experience and Stay Late evening on Wednesday 6th May. This is a wonderful chance for our younger students to build independence and confidence in a fun and supportive environment.

Our school tours for prospective 2027 Prep students will commence this term, with the first tour scheduled for this Friday morning. For more information on school tour dates, please refer to the school website.

AEU Industrial Action

Families may be aware of recent industrial action being taken by the Australian Education Union across Victorian government schools. As part of ongoing negotiations with the state government regarding pay and working conditions, union members have implemented a range of work bans and planned stop-work actions. While we aim to minimise disruption to student learning, there may be some impacts to normal school operations.

We will continue to keep families informed of any changes that affect our school community and appreciate your support and understanding during this time.

As always, we appreciate the ongoing support of our families and encourage you to stay connected with the school through our communication channels. We look forward to a positive and productive Term 2.
