Year 10 Work Experience
At the beginning of this term, our Year 10 Careers and Employability students stepped beyond the classroom and into the workplace as they participated in the first week of their Work Placement Program.
This valuable opportunity enabled students to explore a variety of potential career pathways while gaining firsthand insight into industries they may wish to pursue in the future. Students were placed in a diverse range of workplaces, including a bespoke jewellery manufacturer, an aquatic centre, a radiography clinic, retail organisations, engineering firms, primary schools, early learning centres, pharmacies, physiotherapy clinics, medical practices and a variety of trade industries.
These authentic workplace experiences provided students with a realistic understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities and expectations of different occupations, while helping them make informed decisions about their senior school subject selections and future career aspirations. Throughout the week, students developed valuable employability skills such as communication, teamwork, initiative, problem-solving and professionalism.
They also gained a greater appreciation of the importance of punctuality, responsibility and maintaining a positive work ethic in a professional environment. We extend our sincere thanks to the many host employers who generously gave their time, expertise and resources to mentor and support our students throughout the week.
Their willingness to invest in our young people plays an invaluable role in preparing them for future employment and is greatly appreciated by both the College and our students.
