Plastic Free July

Plastic Free July is a shared global movement that helps millions of people reduce plastic waste through simple, everyday choices and be part of the solution to plastic pollution. That way, we can enjoy cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities.

The Climate Canons observed this event with a number of activities including a recycling game, challenging students to put different waste in the correct bins, a golden rubbish treasure hunt, and a plastic themed Blooket. Congratulations to Smariti K (Yr 7), Taylor S (Yr 8) and Jesse M (Yr 12) on achieving top scores. The Climate Canons also went on the hunt for plastic free lunchboxes and awarded a number of students for their fantastic plastic free lunchboxes.

Well done to everyone who did their bit to reduce their single use plastic and we hope people continue these positive practices.

National Tree Day

National Tree Day 2026 celebrated its 30th anniversary of being Australia's largest community tree-planting and nature care event. Each year, National Tree Day provides an opportunity for people of all ages to connect with nature while contributing to a greener, healthier future.

The Climate Canons celebrated National Tree Day by encouraging students to be part of creating our Sustainable Future - Tree of Hope. Students were invited to write their hopes, promises, goals, or actions for a more sustainable future on a leaf and add it to our tree.

Together, the tree grew, filled with ideas that inspire positive change for our school, community, and planet. Every leaf told a story. Every action made a difference. Thank you to everyone who got involved.
