Food Studies in Focus

Classes in Food Studies have enjoyed a vibrant and productive start to the year — filled with whisking, chopping, grating, grilling, kneading and baking. The department has been a hive of activity, with students enthusiastically exploring new recipes, ingredients and techniques while developing their practical skills and confidence in the kitchen.

We were delighted to welcome two enthusiastic Year 7 classes to the Huntingtower kitchen for the first time. Eager to get started, they have already begun building and demonstrating their developing knife skills, safely preparing a fresh and colourful Fattoush salad.

Year 9 students have embarked on an exciting nutritional journey as they prepare for their upcoming Triathlon later this term. Their studies have focused on understanding key nutrients, how the body performs and functions at its best, and how to fuel themselves effectively for peak athletic performance. Last week, students applied this knowledge in practice by preparing a nourishing Coconut Chicken Bowl featuring roasted shredded chicken, fragrant coconut rice and a crisp, Asian-inspired slaw. Our vegetarian students replaced the chicken with sesame crusted tofu steaks.

We invite you to enjoy the accompanying photos showcasing the students’ impressive finished creations.

Raising Money for OzHarvest

On the 24th February, Warrell House launched their fundraising appeal to support OzHarvest, a charity dedicated to reducing food waste and providing meals to those in need.  Giving back to the community is at the heart of Huntingtower. Congratulations Warrell House.

Year 12 Parent Summer BBQ

Year 12 is not only a milestone year for students, but also for their parents as families reflect on the journey that has led to this final chapter. On Friday 27 February, our Year 12 parents gathered at the Mount Waverley Bowls Club for a relaxed End-of-Summer BBQ, organised by the Year 12 Class Representative, Kevin.

It was a wonderful evening filled with conversation, laughter and the chance to reminisce about the past years their children have spent at Huntingtower, while enjoying the strong sense of community that has grown among families along the way.
