Prep Tree Planting Day
On Thursday 5 March, Prep students gathered in the garden behind their classroom to enjoy a special activity - the planting of a baby Red Eucalyptus. Guided by our school gardener, Mr Bates, students learnt the careful process of planting a tree, from gently tickling the root bulb, to feeding and watering it well, and tying it securely to a stake so that it may grow straight and strong.
The young tree is expected to reach around 14 feet tall, and after one keen student suggested their tree deserved a name, Mr Bates encouraged the class to think of a name inspired by the colour red. We will stay tuned to find out what name the Preps decide upon!
We look forward to witnessing the tree's growth progress by photographing the same group beside their tree again in Year 6 and Year 12. The question is, who will have grown more by then?
