Celebrating Indonesia’s Independence Day – Year 7
To celebrate Indonesian Independence Day, our Year 7 Indonesian class learnt about Hari Kemerdekaan, which is celebrated on 17 August each year.
We had lots of fun trying Martabak, a popular Indonesian food, and drinking Teh Kotak, a popular Indonesian boxed tea. It was great to try new foods and drinks and experience some of the flavours of Indonesian culture.
We also played a traditional Indonesian game called Lomba Makan Kerupuk, where we had to try to eat a hanging cracker without using our hands. It was really funny to watch everyone trying to finish their cracker, and there was lots of cheering and laughter!
It was a fun way to learn more about Indonesian culture and traditions while spending time with our classmates. We really enjoyed celebrating Indonesia’s Independence Day!
Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan, Indonesia!
