Year 9 RAID

Takes on Bendigo!

Year 9 students headed north for another RAID adventure, spending the day exploring the history, culture and landmarks of Bendigo.

Students were divided across a range of activities throughout the city. Some explored Bendigo’s rich Chinese heritage at the Golden Dragon Museum, while others headed underground at the Central Deborah Gold Mine or experienced the city from a different perspective aboard a Bendigo Tramways tour.

Other students put their navigation and teamwork skills to the test with a historical walking tour of Bendigo, discovering significant buildings, landmarks and stories along the way. The day also included a Rosalind Park Scavenger Hunt, where students worked in teams to track down features of the park, answer questions and complete photo challenges.

As always, RAID is about much more than the destination. Travelling by train, navigating an unfamiliar city, managing time, working with different people and representing Gisborne Secondary College in the wider community are all important parts of the experience.

A big thank you to our Year 9 students for embracing the day and to the staff who helped supervise the different activities and keep everyone moving in the right direction!

Another RAID adventure complete - and another opportunity for our Year 9s to learn beyond the classroom.
