Year 10 SnowSports Camp

From 10–14 August, 48 Year 10 students headed to Mount Hotham for the 2026 SnowSports Camp, supported by seven staff members and a wonderful volunteer.

The mountain certainly gave us a little bit of everything! The first half of the week saw students tackle some challenging alpine conditions, including white-outs, strong winds, sleet and snow. Despite the weather, students showed fantastic resilience and enthusiasm, making the most of every opportunity to get out on the slopes.

By Thursday and Friday, the clouds cleared and we were rewarded with beautiful blue skies and fantastic conditions, providing the perfect way to finish the week.

It was incredible to see how quickly students progressed over the five days. Most students opted to try snowboarding, while a smaller group took to the slopes on skis. For many, it was their first experience of snow sports, and it was fantastic to watch their confidence grow each day. Students progressed from learning the basics in their lessons to confidently exploring more of the mountain with their friends and staff.

Beyond developing their skiing and snowboarding skills, the camp was also a wonderful opportunity for students to build resilience, independence and teamwork. They supported and encouraged one another through the challenging conditions, celebrated each other's successes and approached the week with a fantastic attitude.

A huge thank you to the staff and volunteer who gave their time and energy to support the camp, and congratulations to our Year 10 students for embracing everything Mount Hotham threw at them. It was a memorable week filled with plenty of snow, laughter, new skills and some very tired legs by Friday!
