Science Week: A Week of Fun, Discovery and Creativity!

Science Week was a fantastic celebration of curiosity, creativity and all things science at Gisborne Secondary College!
Throughout the week, students and staff had the opportunity to get involved in a range of exciting activities during lunchtime. From building marshmallow and skewer towers and creating cress heads, to enjoying Edible Chemistry and watching the spectacular Elephant’s Toothpaste reaction, there was plenty of fun and hands-on learning to enjoy.
Students also explored the power of static electricity with the Van de Graaff Generator, took part in mindfulness activities focused on mental wellbeing, and enjoyed a range of other science challenges and activities throughout the week.
Science Week finished with the exciting PLANKS Incursion, giving our Year 7 students a memorable science experience to finish the celebrations.
It was wonderful to see so many students and staff getting involved, having fun and sharing their enthusiasm for science. A big thank you to all of the staff who helped organise and run the activities and to everyone who participated and helped make Science Week such a success!
