RAID - Celebrating Science Week

As part of Science Week celebrations, our Year 9 students headed into Melbourne for another exciting RAID excursion, spending the day exploring Melbourne Museum and experiencing Volcanoes 3D at IMAX.
Students had the opportunity to explore a range of exhibitions throughout Melbourne Museum, including Dynamic Earthand Our Wondrous Planet. These exhibitions provided a great opportunity to connect classroom learning with the real world, exploring our changing planet, biodiversity, ecosystems and the powerful geological processes that have shaped the Earth.
A highlight of the day was heading across to IMAX to watch Volcanoes 3D on the enormous screen. Students were taken on a spectacular journey into some of the world’s most active volcanic regions, learning more about how volcanoes form, why they erupt and the important role they play in shaping our planet. Seeing eruptions, lava flows and volcanic landscapes in 3D certainly made for a memorable Science Week experience!
The excursion was a fantastic way to celebrate Science Week and encourage students to be curious about the world around them. It was also another opportunity for our Year 9 students to build the independence, teamwork and confidence that sit at the heart of the RAID program as they travelled into Melbourne and navigated the city together.
A big thank you to all the staff who supported the excursion and to our Year 9 students for their enthusiasm and positive participation throughout the day.
