VIC SRC CONGRESS

🎉 Celebrating 50 Years of Student Voice!

To mark the 50th anniversary of VicSRC, a series of regional “Congress” events have been held across Gippsland, Wangaratta, Geelong, and Sale, bringing student perspectives to the forefront of educational conversations.

Wangaratta High School proudly hosted one of these events, welcoming students from both public and private schools across the region. In the lead-up, our Year 9–12 students participated in extensive training with VicSRC to step into leadership roles as facilitators, guiding meaningful discussions throughout the day.

The Congress brought together Year 7–9 delegates from Wangaratta High alongside peers from Marian College (Myrtleford), Beechworth Secondary College, and Galen College.

Together, students explored five key areas impacting young people today:

💬 Student voice

📚 Equitable access to education

🧠 Mental health and wellbeing

🌟 Definitions of success

🤝 Inclusive education

This was a powerful opportunity for students to share their unique rural and regional perspectives directly with VicSRC staff and executive members—helping to shape priorities and advocacy for the year ahead.

A huge thank you to all students and staff involved for contributing to such thoughtful and impactful conversations. The future of education is stronger when student voices are heard! 👏
