Three Day Canoe Trip

Year 11 Outdoor Education Class
Three Day Canoe Trip
The Year 11 Outdoor Ed class went on a 3-day canoe camp on the Murray River. Students were well prepared, even managing to pack a guitar, which was a welcome addition at the camp, as we made our way downstream each day.
The headwind on days 1 and 2, and especially while we were setting up camp on day 1, provided some solid challenges, but overall, we had beautiful weather for the 3 days.
Students learnt specific skills relating to participating in outdoor trips, as well as discussing a range of different motivations people have for going into the outdoors and different ways of engaging in outdoor experiences.
As a teacher, I was impressed by the students’ preparation and ability to manage themselves throughout the trip. They were a pleasure to take out into the bush.
