Zonta Girls Breakfast

What does it take to build a successful career?

What does it take to build a successful career? Our Year 11 girls found out last week at the Wangaratta Turf Club! Sponsored by the Zonta Club of Wangaratta, 19 of our students participated in a morning of mentorship and storytelling to mark International Women’s Day.

The highlight of the morning was hearing from three keynote speakers who have walked very different paths:

  • Emma Merlo reminded us that there are many "side doors" to success, sharing how she rose to CEO even after her ATAR didn't go as planned. Emma also highlighted the importance of working together rather than competing against each other.
  • Sarah Thompson talked about the "big move" away from home, highlighting how stepping out of your comfort zone is the fastest way to build confidence and resilience. Sarah completed an Arts degree at Uni and used this to open many doors including working overseas.
  • Tegan Allen: An alumni of our school. Tegan shared her powerful story of working in disability and inclusion. Despite becoming legally blind during her teenage years, her determination to help others with similar stories has shaped her career journey.

Our students left the breakfast with the confidence to navigate their own unique journeys.
