Imaginations running wild!

What a fantastic way to finish off a busy and successful Term 1 in Grade 3! This week, students have been wrapping up several exciting learning experiences across the curriculum.

In Geography, students have come to the end of their unit about Australia, where they explored different states and territories, their landmarks, climates, animals, and interesting features. Along the way, they created some wonderful persuasive travel pieces with some excellent suggestions for your next family holiday!

Some of their highlights included:

  • South Australia for its beautiful beaches, wildlife, and underground homes in Coober Pedy
  • ACT for its history, landmarks, and “crispy winters and dry summers”
  • Tasmania for Tasmanian Devils, Salamanca Markets, and MONA
  • New South Wales for the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House
  • Queensland for the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest, and tropical weather
  • Western Australia for Nature’s Window, sunshine, and desert landscapes

In Writing, students have been completing their character-focused narratives, using all of the storytelling tools they have built throughout the term. It has been wonderful to see their creativity, descriptive language, and imaginative ideas continue to grow.

To inspire future writing, students also explored the book If I Built a House by Chris Van Dusen and began designing and labelling their own dream homes. These designs were full of magical, imaginative, and hilarious ideas, and we can’t wait to see how they inspire more writing next term.

We were also incredibly proud of our students at Cross Country this week. The Grade 3s showed fantastic determination, resilience, and sportsmanship, with many students challenging themselves and several even stepping up to run in the Grade 4 race. It was wonderful to see so many students giving their best, encouraging one another, and showing such a positive attitude.

A special thank you to our parent helpers who supported Cross Country. Your time, encouragement, and assistance on the day helped the event run so smoothly, and we truly appreciate your support.

As we come to the end of Term 1, we want to say how proud we are of all our Grade 3 students for the effort, enthusiasm, and growth they have shown this term. We hope all families have a safe, restful, and well-deserved holiday break, and we look forward to another fantastic term ahead!
