Year 4 News

From Lina McAliden, Year 4 teacher
What's going down in Grade 4 town!
Delicious Data!
These few weeks, Grade 4’s have been looking at collecting and representing data on different graphs. On Friday, 4D were asked to use blocks and pretend they were Skittles to assess how many ‘Skittles’ were in a packet. Through the forces of magic, somehow real Skittles appeared.

“In maths, we have been learning about collecting categorical and numerical data. We learnt how to set up a bar graph with a y and x axis. We counted blocks, pretending they were skittles in a packet, using a tally. Then at the end Lina gave us a big surprise by giving us real Skittles to eat! It was so much fun because everyone got to learn maths and eat Skittles. A combination of the best things!”
Quilts of the World
Grade 4 had their final Assembly for the term. They were able to show off their beautiful quilts that they had created. The quilts were made from many different pieces that were joined together. Each piece is unique, but together they make something strong and meaningful. We all bring different cultures, traditions, and experiences and show them on our quilts.
We also say well done to our R.I.S.E award winners. These students showed our school values consistently and are excellent role models. Keep it up!
Diorama Galore
Our final diorama pieces are on display for parents to see. Students worked hard on creating diorama’s for their chosen country. They cut, coloured, pasted and built masterpieces.
