From Kimalee Fernandes and Georgie Murphy, Junior School Science teachers
We can’t quite believe this will be the last newsletter for Term 1, the time has flown by!
We have had an action packed Term 1 filled with lots of predicting, testing, recording and discussing in our science lessons.
Next term in Science we will be learning all about Biology. We would like to wish everyone a safe and fun break over the holidays and we look forward to seeing you all in Term 2.
Prep
The preps have been learning all about different types of weather. Last week we explored the concept of wind. We used an anemometer to measure the wind outside. We made wind socks to fly on a windy day.

Year 1
The Year 1’s have been learning about habitats. We learnt about the important things a habitat needs to provide for an animal; food, shelter, space, water, temperature. We made trioramas of different animal habitats.

Year 2
The Year 2's have been learning to order the different planets in our Solar System.
We used the rhyme: ‘My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Noodles’
to help us remember the order.
Did you know that Pluto is no longer classified as a planet?
It is now a dwarf planet so whilst it’s still part of our Solar System, it’s no longer known as one of the main planets.
This week we made a model of the Solar System using air dry clay, they look amazing!
