IMAX
Last week was really great because we got to go on an excursion to IMAX! We took the route 402 bus that went from right outside school straight to the theatre. It was fun to travel on a bus and we did our best to be respectful of the driver and to members of the public who were on the bus with us. When we got to IMAX we were one of four schools seeing the film ‘Extreme Weather’. It was really interesting to learn about icebergs, wild fires and tornados and it has made us very excited to learn all about weather and Geography in Term 2. We would like to say a massive thank you to the parent helpers who made the day possible.
Reading
We have been identifying how the main character of a story drives the whole plot. We have been breaking down our favourite characters and to see how their traits and wants drive the plots of the books we enjoy. We have also been practising our reading fluency by reading aloud to each other and giving constructive feedback and goals.
Writing
We have taken what we learned about characters in Reading and have been applying that to our own narratives. We created our own character profiles and then thought of the setting, problems/purpose and conclusion that would make sense for the character we created. We have also been working on adding suspense and detail in our writing to get an emotional response from our readers.
Maths
We have been looking at data. We have learned about qualitative and numerical data and how to ask a good question. We have practised finding the mean, median and mode of a data set and learned how to create a double bar graph.
