What’s been happening at OSHC

It’s been a busy fortnight at OSHC! Students worked hard on their special frames for Mother’s / Special Person’s Day and enjoyed experimenting with painting on pages from old, damaged books that were donated to us, transforming them into beautiful artworks and cards.

We have also been making bee baths, with students exploring different drawing and painting techniques to decorate them. In Cooking Club, the students enjoyed making delicious pizza scrolls, while card games such as Monopoly Deal and Uno No Mercy have been very popular during both before and after school care sessions!

Curriculum Day

We had a fantastic Curriculum Day at OSHC! Students and educators made the most of the beautiful weather enjoying outdoor sports and games before coming inside for some creative fun with Hama beads, beading and loom band crafts. We also enjoyed making and eating delicious pancakes together throughout the day!

Reconciliation Week 27 May – 3 June

Reconciliation week is fast approaching and this year’s theme is All In, a reminder that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility. It encourages all Australians to take meaningful action every day to support and advance reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Reconciliation takes commitment from all of us and positive change happens when we work together.

Our students have been revisiting and discussing the significant events in reconciliation week (the anniversaries of the successful 1967 Referendum and the High Court Mabo land rights decisions). We have also been discussing what is means to be “All In”, and how we can contribute to reconciliation through respect, understanding and truth telling in our everyday lives.
