PREP

Prep students explored the five senses through a range of fun, hands on investigations that encouraged them to observe, describe and ask questions about the world around them.

Students used their senses to explore different textures, sounds, smells and tastes, with a favourite activity being the creation of sticky icky slime! Through playful experiments and sensory activities, students developed their confidence as young scientists while learning how our senses help us understand and interact with the world.

Year 1

In Science, Year 1 students have been exploring the wonders of space with curiosity and excitement as they learned about the eight planets in our solar system.

Students investigated the unique features of each planet and shared their discoveries through discussions, drawings and creative activities. A highlight of the term was creating a space map, where students worked carefully to represent the planets and their positions in space. Learning has been full of imagination, questioning and discovery as students explored our solar system like young astronomers.

Year 2

Year 2 students have been investigating healthy habits and exploring the different ways we can care for our bodies and minds. Through discussions, sorting activities and hands on investigations, students learned about healthy eating, exercise, hygiene, sleep and wellbeing.

They explored how daily habits can help people stay strong, active and healthy, while also developing their skills in questioning, observing and sharing ideas. It has been an engaging term full of thoughtful conversations and meaningful learning about making healthy choices.

Year 3

This term, Year 3 students have been learning about food chains and how living things depend on one another within habitats to survive. Students have explored the roles of producers, consumers, and decomposers, and discussed how energy moves through a food chain.

Through hands-on activities, research tasks, and class discussions, students have been developing their understanding of how plants make their own food, how animals rely on other living things for energy, and how decomposers help break down materials and return nutrients to the environment.

Learning has been full of curiosity and discovery as students explore the important connections between living things within different habitats.
