Public Speaking Competition

Our Prep students have been developing their confidence and communication skills through our DPS Public Speaking Competition. They have been learning how to speak clearly in front of an audience, use a strong voice, and share their ideas with others. Students have practised speaking about familiar topics, focusing on eye contact, expression, and speaking in full sentences. It has been a wonderful opportunity for them 

to build confidence, listen to their peers, and celebrate everyone’s efforts!

Literacy

This term, our Prep students have continued to build strong foundations in their literacy learning. They have been learning new letters and sounds, strengthening their phonics knowledge and using this to support their reading and writing. Students have also been making simple text-to-text connections, discussing similarities between stories and thinking about characters and events. In writing, they have been learning how to construct simple sentences, focusing on starting with a capital letter, using finger spaces, and ending with a full stop.

Maths

In Maths, our Prep students have been exploring addition and subtraction through hands-on activities and everyday problem solving. They have been learning to combine groups to find totals and take away to find what is left. Students have been using concrete materials, drawings, and simple number sentences to help them explain their thinking and build confidence with early number skills.

Kaboom Sports

Prep students had a fantastic time participating in Kaboom Sports. They enjoyed taking part in lots of fun games that encouraged teamwork, cooperation, and physical activity. It was wonderful to see students showing enthusiasm, supporting their classmates, and building their confidence while developing new skills. 

The session was filled with smiles, laughter, and lots of energy!
