Level Two

This term, the Level 2 students have learnt the following:

Phonics: In Phonics, students have been consolidating digraphs and trigraphs and learning about the rules when using these in their spelling.

Reading: Students have learnt aboutMonitoring and Questioning. Students also responded to texts linked to our theme unit and our class novel, Fantastic Mr Fox.

Speaking and Listening: Students created and presented speeches for the Public Speech Competition. Congratulations to our Level 2 winners Yzabelle, Anastasia, Zayna, Esme, Christina and Aaron. 

Writing: Students learnt about compound sentences, the difference between sentences and fragments and sentence expansion. Students wrote short Narratives, Persuasive Writing, Procedures and Speeches. A highlight this week has been writing a postcard to a soccer player or friend.

Grammar and punctuation was linked through our reading and writing lessons.

Handwriting: Students continued to write on the dotted thirds lines with correct letter

formation, placement and posture.

Maths: The Maths topics this term included Place Value, Measurement, Addition, Subtraction, Data and Shape.

Theme: Journeys in the Past was embedded through reading and writing. Students enjoyed creating a hands on board game related to this topic.

ICT: Cyber Safety and ICT skills
