Careers & Pathways

Senior School Years 9 - 12

Subject Selection & Careers Expo

As we enter the second half of the year, students in Years 8 to 11 will begin the important process of selecting their subjects for 2027. This is an exciting stage in their learning journey, giving students the opportunity to reflect on their interests, explore future pathways, and take greater ownership of their education.

To support families during this time, we warmly invite you to attend our upcoming Careers Expo and VTAC Information Session for Parents. This event will provide valuable guidance to help students and families make informed and confident decisions about subject choices and future options.

At this event, families will also have access to our Pathways Hub, where representatives from universities, TAFEs, apprenticeship providers, training organisations, and industry groups will be available to share information and answer questions.

We encourage all families to attend and take advantage of this valuable opportunity.

Year 9 & 10 Subject Selection

Year 9 and 10 students have recently participated in assemblies introducing the subject selection process for 2027, with further guidance and discussions continuing into Term 3.

Subject choices at this stage matter - many VCE subjects (which are studied over two years) have specific prerequisite requirements that can shape pathways in Year 11, 12 and beyond. Students are currently reviewing course information in class and completing Career Action Plans, which are available on Insights and will be attached to reports later in the year.

We encourage families to review these together and have meaningful conversations about interests, strengths, and future goals.

Year 9 students have also been introduced to exciting Year 10 opportunities including VCE Early Start, VCE VET Sport & Recreation Early Start, Peer Support, and the Sport Excellence Program. For Year 10 students, a 2028 university the Prerequisites for 2028 document is available to support informed decision-making — we strongly encourage families to review this carefully.

Year 12 VTAC & Pathways

Term 3 is a big one for Year 12s. VTAC applications officially open in Week 3, and students will begin this process during their Explore classes. During this time, all students will create a VTAC account, enter their course preferences, and learn how to manage changes to preferences, as well as how to apply for equity schemes and scholarships.

To ensure they are prepared, students will need to bring their Unique Student Identifier (USI)  and their mobile phone to their Week 3 Explore class, as these are required to complete the setup and verification process: Get your USI here

Presentations from Deakin University and Swinburne University are also planned. All Year 12 students will again meet individually with a Careers Practitioner to review and refine their course selections.

Don’t Forget Open Days!

Students should also be planning to attend Open Days 2026 throughout July and August. This is the best way to explore campuses, speak to staff, and experience different study environments before locking in preferences.

Attached below a document with a summary of different Open Days, plus a guide on how to get the most out of attending Open Day sessions.

Year 9 Morrisby interviews

Year 9 students have been participating in Morrisby career interviews, unpacking their profile results and reflecting on strengths, interests, and future aspirations. We encourage all students to log back into the Morrisby platform to continue exploring career options and study pathways. Well done, Year 9 — your futures are looking bright!

Uni/TAFE Tours

Year 10 students recently visited university and TAFE campuses, gaining valuable firsthand insight into further education options. It was a fantastic day of learning and inspiration, and we were proud of how our students represented the college. Families are encouraged to continue exploring by attending Open Days in July and August.

We were incredibly proud of the way our students represented the college. Their positive attitude, respectful behaviour, and willingness to engage made a lasting impression on staff and presenters across the campuses.
