Year 12 Unit 3
On Thu 11 June, Year 12 VCE Music Performance students attended their Unit 3 Recital SAC. Though it was unscored, students were able to perform in an environment similar to the end of year exam, gaining both valuable experience and feedback as a result.
We had to perform two contrasting pieces that includes an Australian post-90s piece and a reimagined work, all whilst staying under the twenty minute time limit.

This recital has been vital to my preparation and practice routine, ironing out the little details to build up a solid program. ~ Blake MacKenzie, Year 12
Year 11 Unit 1
In Unit 1, our VCE curriculum requires us to perform two contrasting pieces that demonstrate our performance skills, technical control, expression, and stylistic understanding. As well as our Instrumental Music lessons, we each also had rehearsals with an accompanist to help us develop our skills and prepare for end of year exams.

Our Music Recital was student-led, with students taking responsibility for setting up, packing up, and introducing performers. We all take pride in our music class and in our ability to step onto a stage and deliver an outstanding performance. ~ Zahara Paulger, Year 11
Last Wednesday, Wantirna College welcomed students from Blackburn High School, Glen Waverley Secondary College and Macleod College for the annual regional choral workshop.

Led by a team of school choral directors, students explored new repertoire, body percussion, and advanced vocal techniques, including the use of dissonance. Choirs from each school performed for one another, shared solo performances, and exchanged ideas with fellow singers.
The workshop provided a valuable opportunity to develop musicianship, strengthen choral programs, and build connections between young performers from across the region.

The Parents of Performing Arts committee are running a Bunnings BBQ on Sat 1 Aug at Bunnings Vermont and require volunteer helpers for the following roles/time slots:
Below are the roster spots still available:
8am - 10am: 1 back up helper
10am - 12pm: 1 back up helper
12pm - 2pm: 1 helper, 1 back up
2pm - 4:30pm: 1 back up helper
A POPA member will be present in each time slot and back-up helpers would be appreciated in case someone gets sick and can't attend on the day.
Please note that students over 16yrs old are able to attend in serving positions (not permitted to cook).
If you'd like to volunteer your time, please email me with the name and phone number of helpers.
If you are unable to attend Bunnings but would still like to help, we are seeking donations of condiments, serviettes, spray oil and foil - if you'd like to donate items, please let me now before you spend any money and I can advise of what is still required (to avoid double ups!).
Thanks to those who have also responded to the call - we will contact everyone at the start of next term to confirm.
