PERFORMING ARTS

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER
Congratulations to the Senior Singers, directed by Blanka West, who led the assembled crowd at the World Day of Prayer on Friday 3 March at the Bentleigh Uniting Church. Many within the congregation found the group to be an absolute delight and really strong ambassadors for the school.
Thank you to Dmitry Serebrianik for accompanying this performance group.
HOUSE MUSIC FESTIVAL
Congratulations to all the amazing Music Captains who have worked so hard with their houses to present such an amazing performance on Wednesday 19 March. The standard was incredibly high amongst all items and all sections - judging was so difficult!
Unfortunately, there can only be one winner and we congratulate Monash for their win.
Thank you to the fantastic MAV team for their work leading up to and on the night itself, which allowed the students to shine brilliantly. Thank you also to all the families, friends and staff who attended the night and help create such an amazing buzz in the room.
Finally, thank you to Leah Humphrey who oversaw the event, supporting the House Captains throughout the journey.
PURPLE BATON
Mrs Lindsay Ryan, Instrumental Music Teacher has been gifted a Purple Baton, part of Marin Alsop's campaign to highlight and champion women on the conductor's podium.
We encourage any girls to think about conducting as a pathway that's open to all genders. This will tie in nicely with her forthcoming opportunity with Perth Symphony Orchestra in April, working with Alice Farnham, Jess Gethin as an advanced scholar in their Women on the Podium initiative.
For more information please see the following link, and make contact with Mrs Lindsay Ryan.
